An actor with extensive experience in television, stage, and screen, Antônio Pompeo, plays the role of Jorginho (Flavio Bauraqui) in 2004. Jorginho, beginning with the experience gained in Ilha Grande Penitentiary, founds the Comando Vermelho(Red Command Gang), which organizes the ordinary convicts and their families and transforms them into a powerful drug dealing organization which controls many Carioca shantytowns. Today Jorginho, still in command of trafficking, is doing time in the Bangu Maximum Security Penitentiary.

How is your character in the film?

My character is Jorginho .At the beginning of the film he is an ordinary convict at the Ilha Grande Penitentiary and later he becomes a big drug dealer.

Talk a bit about the film.

The film is about an attempt to unite white and black men to a common purpose. But this attempt doesn’t work out because they are from two completely different worlds. When Jorginho tries to return to an ordinary world, he finds it impossible..

In what way do you think this film could help overcome racial/social stereotypes?

I don’t see the film this way .In reality I see it as an attempt to unite two different worlds that didn’t work out. There is no possibility of uniting the shantytown and the middle class.

How do you perceive the epoch your character lives in the film?

It’s difficult, the images get so mixed up that the two actors that play Jorginho end up transforming themselves into one..

What most impressed you about the film?

Bauraqui’s role..
