Actor from the cinems workshop “Nós do Cinema”, Renato de Souza plays the role of the drug dealer Deley, a lieutenant of one of the shantytowns nowadays under the command of Jorginho. What’s your character in the film like?

I view my character in the film as a guy who never had any opportunity. Because of this he lives in an illusion about the world he is part of. At the same time he has his own sense of justice, he protects the community and helps others. And this is in function of the respect he has for his crew and his boss.

Talk a little about the film.

I like the film a lot, especially the way Lúcia plays with the passage of time. I guess that’s the way she shows the other side of the coin, in other words she investigates the origins of criminality based on historical events, how it was then and how it is now. And it is this parallel between different universes that the film deals with.

What moved you most about the film?

What moved me most about the film , what stayed in my head, is the scene in which Miguel proposes a community social project to Jorginho and Jorginho asks him ”And my boy?” I guess that politics transforms Miguel and life transforms Jorginho, they have their friendship but the are obliged to keep a distance from each other, and I find this meeting between these worlds fantastic.
